Her training spans some of the nation’s most respected academic medical institutions, equipping her with the clinical depth and surgical precision needed to manage pediatric vision disorders.

Dr. Michels earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University before pursuing medical education at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. She then completed a comprehensive ophthalmology residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, where she gained broad experience across all subspecialties of eye care and achieved the distinction of Chief Resident during her final year of training.

Following her residency, Dr. Michels recognized her passion for pediatric eye care and pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Ann & Robert H. Originally from Cleveland, Dr. Michels is committed to serving the families of Southeast Michigan. She brings a patient-centered philosophy to her practice, understanding that pediatric eye care requires not only clinical expertise but also compassion and clear communication with both children and their parents. At Fraser Eye Care, she is dedicated to ensuring that every young patient receives thorough, compassionate evaluation and treatment while feeling supported throughout their care journey.
